Pick a wallet
Phantom and Solflare are the standard choices on Solana. Both run as browser extension and mobile app, both show token balances, NFTs and swap history, both warn you about known scam sites. Pick one, install it only from the official site or app store, and write the seed phrase on paper. Twice.
Main wallet versus burner
- Main wallet: holds your SOL and anything you plan to keep. Connects to nothing except a handful of blue-chip apps. Ideally a hardware wallet.
- Burner wallet: a fresh wallet with only the SOL you are willing to lose this week. Connects to launchpads, tools and whatever the group chat links.
- Refill, don't merge: send SOL from main to burner as needed. Never the other way while the burner has approvals open.
Seed phrase rules
The twelve or twenty-four words are not a password, they are the wallet itself. Nobody legitimate will ever ask for them: not Phantom, not a Telegram admin, not a "validator". If a site asks you to "verify" or "sync" your wallet with the phrase, it is a drainer. Close the tab.
Read before you sign
Every transaction shows what it does before you approve it. A swap says swap. A "claim" that wants to transfer all your tokens says so too, in small print. Simulation warnings in Phantom exist for a reason. If the preview shows assets leaving that should not leave, reject it.
