Creator fees, but for a cause
Reported by Decrypt on April 30, Charity Coins is a new Pump.fun option that routes a creator's fee stream β some of it or all of it β to verified nonprofits instead of an anon wallet. The verification layer is the point: it takes the donation out of the "trust me bro, I'll send it" genre that has followed charity memecoins since the first one existed.
The early poster child was $STJUDE, which Decrypt said reached roughly $3 million in market cap after the children's hospital engaged with a community member connected to the token.
The tape it launched into
Decrypt put the total meme market at about $34.28 billion, up roughly 5% week over week. $DOGE led the majors with a double-digit weekly gain that added more than $1 billion in value, while $PENGU climbed over 13% to clear $600 million.
- Meme sector market cap: ~$34.28B, +5% on the week
- DOGE: +10%+ weekly, over $1B added
- PENGU: +13%, back above $600M
- PUMP: ~$630M market cap, roughly 80% below September highs above $3B
What it means for degens
Charity Coins does not change the odds on any individual launch. What it does is give a launchpad β one that just spent the week defending its own tokenomics β a fee narrative that is not purely extractive. Expect a wave of copycat cause-tokens, most of which will exist for about eleven hours.
