Pump.fun Turns On BOOST, Pointing Dead Liquidity at Buybacks

BOOST mode takes the slice of migration liquidity that used to be locked forever and spends it on five minutes of automated buying and burning instead.

The money that used to go nowhere

When a Pump.fun token graduates, a chunk of the settlement liquidity has historically been locked inside the PumpSwap pool forever. Useful for optics, useless for everything else. Pump.fun calls it dead liquidity, and by its own estimate more than $100 million of it gets stranded each year.

BOOST, live since July 21, redirects that roughly 20% share. Instead of parking it, the protocol's BOOST agent executes a series of timed purchases on the secondary market across a strict five-minute window using a TWAP, rather than one enormous market buy, then burns what it bought.

  • Applies after a token migrates, automatically
  • Spreads buying across a five-minute TWAP rather than a single order
  • Purchased supply is burned, not held
  • Targets liquidity that was previously locked permanently

What it means for degens

BOOST does not change whether a token bonds. It changes what happens immediately afterwards: every freshly migrated coin now arrives with a scheduled, protocol-funded bid and a guaranteed burn attached. That is a structural tweak to the post-graduation window, which has historically been where the majority of new tokens fall apart.

The honest caveat: a five-minute automated bid is not demand, it is a subsidy financed by capital that was going to be locked anyway. Whether it improves survival rates past day one is an empirical question, and one week of data will not answer it. Watch graduation and post-migration survival numbers over the next few weeks rather than the first green candle.
