The complaint

According to Cointelegraph, lead plaintiff Kenneth Kolbrak β€” represented by Max Burwick of Burwick Law β€” filed a class action in Manhattan federal court against Amethyst Amelia Kelly, better known as Iggy Azalea, over the $MOTHER token she launched on Solana in May 2024.

The suit alleges she misrepresented the token's real-world utility and business integrations, promised commercial partnerships that never materialised, and failed to disclose the terms of market-support arrangements with crypto firms Wintermute and DWF Labs.

  • A MOTHERLAND casino marketed as "powered by $MOTHER" that allegedly ran on USDt instead
  • Claims that MOTHER could buy phones via Unreal Mobile, without an actual integration in place
  • Market-support deals with trading firms that were not disclosed to holders

Those representations were limited, incomplete, contradicted, temporary, or not delivered in a durable way.

What it means for degens

MOTHER went from $136 million at its mid-June 2024 peak to roughly $1.3 million today, per Cointelegraph β€” a chart shape that describes most celebrity coins. The interesting part is not the number, it is the legal theory: the complaint targets stated utility and undisclosed market-maker deals rather than the token's existence.

That matters for anyone trading celebrity launches. If courts keep treating roadmap tweets as actionable representations, the promo cycle that powers these coins gets expensive for the promoter. The lead plaintiff, incidentally, claims losses of only several hundred dollars β€” class actions are not about one bag.
