Finally, a green open
After a fortnight of grinding lower, Yahoo Finance reported bitcoin opening at $66,287.48, up 0.9%, and edging to $66,433.15 by 7:30 a.m. ET. Ether did the heavier lifting, opening at $1,794.94, up 4.1%, and holding roughly flat at $1,791.95 at the same timestamp.
Yahoo Finance attributes the strongest opens in about two weeks to news that the U.S. and Iran are making meaningful strides toward a permanent peace deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Same geopolitical file that the market pointedly ignored in late May; this time it got a bid.

Worth remembering how far the sector had fallen before this. CoinDesk reported on June 3 that bitcoin plunged 6.4% to $65,708 and that SOL dropped 9.0% to $73.25, with $DOGE off 8.3% to $0.0921 — a crypto-only drawdown that happened while global equity indexes were setting record highs on the AI trade. Tuesday's open barely recovers the ground lost in that single session.
There is also no sign yet that the bounce has reached the launchpads. The Solana memecoin complex has been running on thin volume through June, and a two-week high in the majors is a necessary condition for that to change, not a sufficient one.
What it means for degens
Ether outpacing bitcoin four-to-one at the open is the classic first tell that risk appetite is coming back down the curve. Whether it reaches the far end of that curve — Solana launchpads, three-day-old tickers, whatever is trending on the timeline — is a different question, and one green session does not answer it.
