The casino reopened, quietly
After a miserable spring, Solana's memecoin market has crawled back to levels it has not touched since January. Crypto Briefing reports weekly memecoin volume at $5.2 billion, up from about $1.8 billion in late May. The venues doing the heavy lifting are the familiar ones: Pump.fun and PumpSwap, which the report says have channeled hundreds of millions in daily DEX volume.
The activity is not confined to memes. The same report notes Solana processed 4.2 billion onchain transactions in July, up 13.5% from June and 91% above December 2025. During the week of July 20–26, memecoins made up 29% of Solana DEX volume, peaking at 42% on some days. One token, $ANSEM, surged roughly 299% in a single week in July.

The interesting part is the disconnect. Volume tripled and SOL did not follow. Crypto Briefing reads this as speculation churning within the memecoin layer rather than fresh capital entering the Solana ecosystem — the same chips moving faster around the same table. Cheap fees and quick settlement make that churn possible, but they do not make it durable.
