- Alpha
- An information edge: knowledge not everyone has yet. Real alpha is rare; "alpha" in Telegram groups is mostly advertising.
- Ape / to ape
- Jumping into a coin fast without much checking. Usually gut feeling, rarely a plan.
- Bonding curve
- The pricing mechanism on pump.fun: every buy pushes the price up a fixed curve, every sell pushes it down. When the curve is full, the coin migrates to a DEX.
- Bundle
- Several wallets buying at launch in the same second – often the developer himself, securing a large share cheaply. A classic warning sign.
- CA (contract address)
- The unique address of the token on the Solana blockchain. Only the CA tells you for sure which coin you're buying – names and logos can be copied by anyone.
- CTO (community takeover)
- The original developer is gone, the community takes over the coin. Can be a restart – or a flash in the pan.
- Degen
- Short for "degenerate": someone who trades high-risk coins and knows it. Affectionate when used about yourself.
- DEX
- Decentralized exchange like Raydium, Orca or Meteora. Trading happens straight from your own wallet, no account.
- Diamond hands
- Holding even when it hurts. Opposite: paper hands – selling at the first red candle.
- DYOR
- "Do your own research." The polite reminder that nobody covers your losses.
- FDV
- Fully diluted valuation: price times total supply, including tokens still locked. For memecoins often the same as market cap.
- FOMO
- Fear of missing out. The reason most people buy the top and sell the bottom.
- FUD
- Fear, uncertainty, doubt: deliberately spread doubts. Sometimes justified, sometimes from people who want a cheaper entry.
- gm
- "Good morning" – the scene's greeting, at any time of day. Reply: gm.
- Honeypot
- A token you can buy but not sell. The contract technically doesn't allow sales. Check before, not after.
- Jeet
- Derogatory for someone who sells at the slightest profit. There are jeets in every chart – and sometimes you're one.
- KOL
- Key opinion leader – influencers shilling coins. The ones who got paid usually don't say so.
- Liquidity (LP)
- The trading pair in the pool, e.g. coin/SOL. Low liquidity means even small sells crash the price.
- LP burned / locked
- The liquidity is burned or locked – the developer can't pull it. Protects against a classic rug, not against everything else.
- Market cap
- Price times circulating tokens. For memecoins the number everyone talks about – and which can do 10x or 0.1x in minutes.
- Meme
- The joke, the image, the idea behind the coin. For memecoins the meme is the product.
- Mint authority
- The right to create new tokens. If not revoked, the developer can inflate supply at any time.
- Moon
- A price going vertical. "Wen moon?" is the eternal question.
- NGMI / WAGMI
- "Not gonna make it" / "We're all gonna make it". The two moods the scene swings between daily.
- Paper hands
- Sells at the first dip. See diamond hands.
- pump.fun
- The launch platform where anyone can create a Solana memecoin in minutes. Where most coins are born – and die.
- Rug / rug pull
- The developer pulls the liquidity or dumps everything – the price goes to zero. "I got rugged" is the saddest sentence in the scene.
- Ser
- Sir, deliberately misspelled. Polite address, mostly ironic.
- Shill
- Aggressively promoting a coin, often with a stake in it. Everyone shills, nobody admits it.
- Slippage
- The price difference between order and execution. High for small coins – and a door for sandwich bots.
- Snipe / sniper
- Bots buying in the first second of a launch. They get the best price – and then sell to you.
- Sol / SOL
- The currency of the Solana blockchain. It runs fees, buys and the hopes of the scene.
- Top blast
- Bought the top right before it turned. Everyone has been a top blaster once.
- Wallet
- Your purse on the blockchain, e.g. Phantom or Solflare. Whoever has your seed phrase has everything – never share it.
- Wen
- "When" in scene spelling. Wen moon, wen lambo, wen listing.
- Whale
- A wallet with a lot of capital. When a whale sells, you notice it in the chart.
